PUPILS from Ridgeway and Abbey Park claimed two wins apiece when hundreds of youngsters contested the Swindon Schools Cross-Country Championships at Nova Hreod Academy this month.

The Year 10/11 boys’ race was won by Ridgeway’s Harry Woods ahead of Commonweal’s Jack Gunning and Ridgeway schoolmate Harry Cunningham.

Commonweal’s Kelly Marie-Marsh won the girls’ equivalent race ahead of Ayla Tankin (Ridgeway) and Lavinia Rai (Lydiard Park Academy).

Lydiard Park’s Samuel Rai won the Year 8/9 boys’ race, beating Ridgeway’s Jamie Sheppard and Lydiard Park’s Max Grey.

Freya Dancise, of Ridgeway, won the girls’ event ahead of Commonweal’s Maisie McCalla and Great Western Academy’s Megan Penny.

Abbey Park pupil Liam Clark won the Year 7 boys’ race after finishing ahead of Kingsdown’s Tom Freeman and Dorcan’s George Cook.

The girls’ race saw Abbey Park claim a one-two finish as Zinia Wood triumphed ahead of Zara Wood.
