FIREFIGHTERS have cut two people free from their Mercedes after the car crashed near Waitrose.

The man and woman, whose ages are not known, have been taken to Great Western Hospital.

Foxham Way has been closed between Waitrose and the turning onto East Wichel Way.

Wiltshire Police traffic officers are at the scene. The road is expected to remain shut for several hours.

The force tweeted: “Drivers are advised to seek an alternative route.”

The emergency services were called at around 5pm to reports of a crash at the roundabout junction at Foxham Way and Mill Lane.

Station Manager Phil Peaple of Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Westlea and Swindon fire stations used Holmatro cutting equipment to free two casualties from the car.
