She was handed in after her owners split up and neither could continue to look after her.

Now Beth, a three-year-old America Bulldog needs a new home.

“She’s absolutely adorable,” said Jess Bascombe, founder and trustee of SNDogs, the charity currently fostering Beth.

“She just loves being with people. If you’re at home and she’s not with you she will sit and sing until you go to her. She just really wants to be with you.

“But it’s not too bad because it’s quite peaceful!”

The pooch, who came to the Swindon charity in November, is fine to be left on her own and has previously lived with other dogs and a cat.

Jess added: “Beth is best not to live with other small dogs, purely because she likes to play with them and doesn’t always realise how big she is.

“Similarly she would also be better with slightly older children due to her size and the fact that she is a bit of a bull in a china shop.

“But she is good with children and absolutely adores them,” she said.

Beth does need additional lead training and can be a bit unsure around unknown dogs.

“She just needs her confidence building,” said Jess.

“She can be a bit barky if a dog approaches that she doesn’t know and she isn’t sure what to do.”

Because Beth enjoys being around people so much, SNDogs is recommending she goes to a new home where her owners are not out all day, everyday.

Jess added: “She would be best in a home where she is not left in her own for 12 hours at a time.”

The pooch enjoys a cuddle and watching TV.

“She likes to sit on your lap while you are watching TV,” said Jess.

“It’s like having a great big blanket on your knee, because she is big.

“But she just gives you the best kisses ever,” Jess added.

Anyone interested in giving Beth a home should visit sndogs.uk/adopt-a-dog and fill out the application form.

SNDogs runs a foster organisation based in Pinehurst, where homeless and rescued dogs are looked after in a network of volunteer homes.

It asks for a £200 donation for each dog adopted, to help it cover the cost of previous care.
