TICKETS have been issued as police tackle on dangerous parking outside schools.
Officers in North Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Police posted pictures on Facebook as part of the crackdown.
Bassett and Cricklade police wrote: “This morning (Tuesday) the teams managed to attend a number of schools in the Cricklade, Malmesbury, Lyneham and Royal Wootton Bassett areas at the school drop-off times.
“Unfortunately even after actively engaging and educating drivers over the past few months, we’re now enforcing the road traffic laws and have had to issue a number of £30 non-endorsable tickets to drivers parking dangerously within 10m of junctions.
“We heard lots of excuses such as ‘I’ve parked there for years’ and ‘Where else can I park?’
“We are trying to make the roads safer for your children, we can’t be at every school everyday but we will carry on when our duties allow to be at as many of the schools as often as possible.”
The post included pictures of cars that received tickets.
A post by Swindon North Police read: “Reminder to parents to park sensibly at pick up and drop off times. Many thanks.”
