A HOMELESS charity, which runs Unity House in Chippenham, have launched an appeal to support the less fortunate this Christmas time.

Alabaré, who work throughout Wiltshire, are urging the public to donate in the lead up to the festive holidays as it is the hardest time of the year to sleep on the streets.

Their Big Give scheme means that any donations given between now and December 10 will be match funded, meaning the cash is doubled.

Andrew Lord, chief executive of Alabaré, said: “Whilst many families will be enjoying the Christmas period, the stark reality is that for many it is an incredibly difficult time of year. We want to be to ensure nobody is faced with the prospect of sleeping rough and that we are able to continue to be there for those needing our support.”

The charity supported 1,950 homeless and vulnerable people in 2018.
