A STEADY stream of voters poured into Robert Le Kyng Primary School this morning as this Adver reporter went to put a cross in an all-important box.

Miserable drizzle casting a grey pall over the area could not dampen people's determination to do their democratic duty.

The mood was bright and cheerful inside the school, with neighbours being efficiently checked off the long list of the electorate.

Some of the volunteers checking this were overheard remarking how busy it was when the polls first opened at 7am.

A similar situation has been reported around the country - could this year see a record turnout?

Sadly, no-one brought their dogs with them when I visited - #dogsatpollingstations is always a personal highlight of any election day.
