Conservative candidate Antonio Piazza has won the local by-election for the Drynham Ward on Trowbridge Town Council.
He beat the only other candidate John Marsden, of the Liberal Democrat Party.
Mr Piazza polled 282 votes, giving him a majority of 127 votes. Mr Marsden got 155 votes. The turn-out was 13.57 per cent. Three ballot papers were spoiled.
Mr Piazza said: “I am really happy with the result. I’d like to thank my parents and my team for all their help.
“I’d also like to thank all the residents who voted. I am going to put them first.”
The by-election on Tuesday (January 7) was held following the resignation of Trowbridge Town Councillor and Wiltshire Unitary councillor Deborah Halik in October.
Liberal Democrat Jo Trigg was elected on November 28 to fill the Wiltshire Council vacancy for the Lambrok Ward.
