THIS week we reported that a dog that had previously bitten a postman will be destroyed by order of the Swindon magistrates after it bit a woman. Magistrates ordered that the dog was destroyed, saying it was a danger to public safety and that it had previously bitten a postman. Here’s what you had to say about the story:

RACINGFLAME: This makes me SO ANGRY! It’s NOT the dog’s fault... it is the owners FAULT! No animal should be destroyed because some stupid person didn’t uphold their responsibilities in making sure that it was properly trained.

Destroying an animal because it has bitten someone shouldn’t result in its life being taken away!! This is what is wrong with this world... NO ONE is taking responsibility anymore.

The dog should be saved and given a second chance... all the owner gets is a £100 fine and can ‘walk away’. Pathetic rubbish British justice.

DILLONSMUM: Quite agree, but unfortunately the poor dog would not have been able to be retrained - and therefore would not be able to be re-homed.

As it was the owner’s responsibility to train the dog he should be charged with assault!

SPORTY2: It’s bitten twice how many chance do you want it too have? Yes it’s sad for the dog but would you say that if it attacked one of your kids or family members? Agree the owner should get more than what they got to.

RACINGFLAME: I get where you’re coming from, but as I have already said, the animal was innocent... it was the stupid idiot who owned it that was and STILL is the problem.

When the dog attacked for the first time the owner should have taken steps to minimise and STOP the aggression, either by extra dog training or taking precautions such as a muzzle.

Animals are treated with no respect... it’s always just the easy option to KILL them when humans can’t or won’t take responsibility.

It doesn’t matter if the life is a human one or an animal, A life is a life.

We also reported on a court case in which a driver who led police on a 100mph car chase was jailed for 18 months. Karl James, 28, admitted multiple driving offences when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.

He was sentenced after pleading guilty to driving whilst disqualified, dangerous driving and using a vehicle without insurance. As well as the prison sentence, he was also disqualified from driving for 45 months. You said:

YEAHBOY: he doesn’t look so smug now, half witted moron.

SYNICAL SAM: More proof that ugly is guilty

MIKE HAWKINS: And, when released, he will drive again, despite still being disqualified.

We also reported that thousands of commuters in Wiltshire will have to pay an average of 2.7 per cent more for train tickets. Many commuters face an increase of more than £100 for annual passes. You said:

PITCHFORKS AT DAWN: Meanwhile in Germany prices have decreased to encourage people to leave their cars behind in favour of public transport. Climate Emergency? What Climate Emergency - carry on as usual ‘coz it’s more important for shareholders to have more £’s than a planet to live on. Our grandchildren will rightly despise us.

HBP111: The TUC has quite a nerve, involving itself in complaining about fare increases. One of the key reasons for our high-cost railways is the antics of the rabid extremist RMT union in opposing modernisation and streamlining of services, and calling repeated and prolonged strikes to try to get its way.

The sooner these dinosaurs are out of the picture altogether, with automated trains and computer controlled signalling and networks, the better for all. Just as the print unions did, so the RMT and its ilk will see its members out of a job through its antedeluvian practices.
