GREEN-FINGERED readers should head to Gorse Hill today for a Potato Day and Seed Fair.

Everyone is invited to the Gorse Hill Community Centre on Chapel Street for Swindon Allotment and Leisure Garden Association's ‘grow your own’ event between 10.30am to 1.30pm.

More than 60 varieties of seed potato are available for sale in single tuber, as well as onion and shallot sets, planting garlic bulbs, fruit trees and soft fruit, and kitchen garden plants.

Non-members of the gardening club are encouraged to attend and admission is free. Tea and coffee will be available.

Shop manager and club committee member Michael Northcott said: “This is a great event open to the public in the middle of winter and we hope many people will come.”

Guests are encouraged to bring their own carrier bags.

SALGA is based at The Pickards Field allotments off Pinehurst Road and has over 400 members.
