A SCHEME that aims to help children learn to manage money is hoping to come to Wiltshire.

Lifesavers Financial Education is an educational programme that teaches youngsters the key skills and knowledge required to manage money effectively. It is currently in 120 schools in England.

Co-ordinator Kier Lewis said: “We’re in the process of recruiting schools and an area co-ordinator for the programme, with the launch happening in April or May.

“There will be between 12 and 20 primary schools in Wiltshire running the programme for pupils from six to 11.

“This is an area gaining significant traction due to the current financial climate of the UK and pressure on the next government to include financial education into the KS1 and KS2 curriculum.

“The digital lifesaving money clubs run in schools mean that pupils are in charge of their own money. Parents can come in with their kids and cashiers are there to help them.”
