A YOUNGSTER wound up in court – for slamming his bedroom door.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named because he is under 18, slammed the door so hard the door knob fell off.
But rather than reprimand him, the boy’s mum called the police.
Swindon Youth Court heard the boy had argued with his mum earlier that day – October 10 – over some unpaid rent.
Nick Barr, prosecuting, said the boy had become angry. He slammed the door twice, with the handle coming off the second time he slammed it.
He made full admissions when he was interviewed by police. The boy, who has one previous conviction for assault, pleaded guilty to criminal damage.
Emma Thacker, defending, said her young client had a turbulent relationship with his mother, who is an alcoholic.
Sentencing him to a three month conditional discharge, chairman of the bench Linda Raine said: “We hope that this is the last of your offending and now life is looking good for you and you can move on.”
