A SEVEN-DAY campaign has launched in Wiltshire to help reduce energy consumption and fuel bills as households continue to waste money on unnecessary energy usage.

Big Energy Saving Week is organised each year by Citizen's Advice and provides information and practical guidance on saving energy, money and the environment through becoming more energy efficient.

OFTEC, which represents the oil heating industry and is a partner of Big Energy Saving Week, is encouraging householders to think about their energy consumption.

Its top tips are:

- Adjust heating timers and thermostats

- Upgrade home heating controls which allow people to set temperatures for different rooms

- Bleed radiators that are not warming up quickly.

- Have your boiler serviced at least once a year.

Malcolm Farrow from OFTEC said: “The focus on reducing our energy usage to help lower fuels bills and combat climate change has rightly taken centre stage. It’s important to remember that the cost of energy is a real concern for many struggling households, particularly in rural areas.”
