THERE are services in Swindon which can help smokers quit their deadly habit.

The Swindon Stop Smoking Service is free and has helped many people stub out their ciggies for good.

These services are staffed by expert advisers and provide a range of proven methods to help people quit.

Plus, they can make stop-smoking treatments like nicotine replacement therapy easy and affordable to get for those in need.

The service's sessions provide clients with accurate information and advice, as well as professional support, during the first few months of quitting.

Help for people who relapse is also available.

Anyone interested in receiving support and advice can call the Live Well Swindon Hub on weekdays on 01793 465513 or send an email to livewell@swindon.gov.uk or livewell@swindon.nhs.uk

The NHS offers top tips for people trying to quit which can be used alongside visiting a support service.

These include thinking positive, making a plan to quit with a list of benefits that it will bring, consider a change in diet or drinks, saying aloud "I won't even have a single drag" until the cravings pass, exercise more to help cut down cravings, identify strategies to use during the five minutes that cravings usually last, make non-smoking friends, and try to keep your hands and mouth busy
