A GROUP of women banded together to put on a clothes swap to help end domestic abuse.
Laura McDonnell, 32, was among the group who came up with the idea to host the event to raise money for Women’s Aid, a charity that protects women and children from domestic violence.
Laura told the Adver: “It’s went well. So far we’ve raised £150 for Women’s Aid and the Swindon people have been a great support."
The Ethical Clothes Swap was a huge hit for people of Swindon and others came from afar to help the cause.
Karen Jones, 52, travelled from Chippenham.
She said: “I like the idea. We should all be reusing and keeping it out of landfill. It’s an opportunity to refresh your wardrobe.”
A first timer to a clothes swap, Anke David of South Swindon, was brought along by her friend Billy.
She told the Adver: “It’s very good, there’s a lot more here than I thought there would be. Now I know what sort of things I can bring and what’s here, I’m willing to come again.”
Laura worked with her sisters Rachel and Caroline, along with Tracey Dale and SJ Wood.
The swaps will be on every last Sunday of the month at The Rolleston Arms between 4.30pm and 7pm.
