A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence for trying to smuggle a mobile phone into Erlestoke prison. Pawel Jan Idziak, 36, of Winchester Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to trying to take a prohibited item into the prison when he appeared for sentencing at Salisbury Crown Court.
During the afternoon of May 3, on duty prison officers searched Idziak while he was visiting a prisoner, and found a mobile phone and charger.
Police were called and Idziak was arrested. He was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months.
He was also ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work, undertake rehabilitation activities and pay a £115 victim surcharge.
