THE latest section of the road predicted to ease Warrington's traffic nightmare was lifted into place alongside Chester Road today, Wednesday.

Cranes towered above the Mersey as the bridge connecting the new Centre Park Link road was lowered down.

Work on the project started earlier this year and is set to be completed by the end of 2020.

Warrington Guardian:

The £19.89 million project will take drivers from Wilson Patten Street to Chester Road – giving motorists the chance to skip Bridge Foot.

Work is under way at both ends of the bridge, off Slutchers Lane and Gainsborough Road.

A new signal controlled junction is to be put in place at each end of the new link on Chester Road and Wilson Patten Street.
