The government has issued eight flood alerts in the Swindon area.

Flooding is possible from the River Cole and Dorcan Brook but property damage is not expected.

Property flooding is also not expected from Clanfield Brook for Clanfield Village and the Shill Brook for Bampton but general flooding is possible.

Groundwater flooding is possible in the Lambourn Valley, Upper Aldbourne and Upper Og areas with property flooding possible in the long term.

The River Coln and its tributaries have seen river levels rising which could lead to possible flooding, but property flooding is not expected.

River Kennet and its tributaries from Berwick Bassett down to Newbury could flood as a result of the heavy rainfall, but property flooding is not currently expected.

Finally, flooding is possible at the Upper Bristol Avon area despite the rain passing out of the area.

To prepare for the potential flooding, the government recommends preparing a bag that includes medicines and insurance documents and to keep up to date with the flood warnings.

If there is a flood warning then it suggests turning off gas, water and electricity, move things upstairs or to safety and to move family, pets and cars to safety.
