Poor treatment of fans

I’m writing about the recent release of Season Ticket prices by Swindon Town FC for next season 20/21.

First of all, congratulations to the manager, Ritchie Wellens, and the players for the season so far. And to the Chairman for backing the manager in the January transfer window.

Let’s hope, when it ends in April, that we are in the top three which will mean promotion back to League One, after four seasons in the wilderness of League Two.

Without doubt there is a fantastic feel about the current campaign. Long may it continue.

The Club has, in recent seasons, brought out Season Ticket prices for the following season in February of each year. Fortunately, the price for renewals remains the same.

But, unlike every other Club across the Country, you only have a window of less than one month to get the best possible price.

I’m at a loss to understand why the Club treats Season Ticket holders in this way or any other fan who wants to buy one for the first time.

If we were getting average attendances in excess of 12,000 on a regular basis then, perhaps, I could see some merit in it. But, clearly we are not.

I think its a poor way to treat fans in having such a short period of time in order to get the best possible price.

I wish the Club would put equal effort in to the merchandise and items on sale in the Club shop. Can you believe, that it’s not possible to buy a home shirt below XL, polo shirt, scarf, hat, cap etc.

If the Club cannot stock a shop in what, hopefully, will be a promotion year then it beggars belief. It’s never ever been as poor as it is now. There is no excuse.

So, whoever is in charge of Marketing needs to have a look at themselves.

God forbid we have to go through the play offs. Because, like now, there will be nothing to buy.

So, hopefully Wellens and the boys will continue to put enough points on the board and take us out of this division once and for all.

Good luck boys.

Waste wafted away

Referring to the article concerning the couple in Wanborough waiting months for bins to be emptied.

Welcome to the unfailing and breathtaking inefficiency of Swindon; any task/project which would seem to take just a few days extends to several months.

Also, today (Monday) in strong winds, one would think that the most vulnerable collection items I.e. plastics etc would be collected as a priority. Not a chance. As I write this plastics are blowing up and down the road.

Take long term view

After reading in the Swindon Advertiser last week that the council may ask us to pay £54 more council tax. I think that means we will have no choice, we will have to pay the increase.

We wouldn’t mind if £5 million wasn’t being spent on the alterations at Junction 15 of the M4 but was being spent filling in the hundred of potholes and redoing the lines on the roundabouts.

And now I read in the SA that more money is being wasted redoing Bruce Street roundabout. We had months of waiting around last time. If they had done it right in the first place. Swindon Borough Council waste millions of pounds of our money doing work short term instead of thinking long term.
