POLICE have welcomed the jailing of Albanian drugs courier Ilir Hysa.
The 47-year-old was sentenced to two years and four months imprisonment at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.
Police had watched as he dropped off cocaine at a house on Forest Hill, Marlborough, in January. When he was stopped he was found to have the class A drug with him.
Sgt Pete Foster said: “The drugs located were found to have an estimated street value of approximately £2,000. His mobile phone was also analysed as part of our enquiries and was found to have messages indicating that he had been involved in multiple ‘drugs drops’ in the area since the middle of December.
“I am pleased that he has been given a custodial sentence - we will not tolerate illegal drug activity in our county and we will conduct all enquiries necessary to identify those involved in the supply of drugs.
“If you have any information relating to drug activity in your neighbourhood, please report it via 101 so action can be taken.”
Last week, Hysa was said to have turned to drug dealing after he lost jobs as a delivery driver and at a car wash.
