THE MP for South Swindon has been mocked on the cover of the new Private Eye.
Justice secretary Robert Buckland and the rest of the prime minister’s reshuffled cabinet appear profiled as poodles on the front of the fortnightly satirical magazine’s newest issue.
In politics, the word poodle is often used as an insult to describe a politician who obediently or passively follows the lead of others.
The Adver approached Mr Buckland for comment but did not receive a response.
Mr Buckland kept his position in Boris Johnson’s cabinet but sacked his special adviser Peter Cardwell. Mr Cardwell told the Adver that his boss had wanted him to stay on as a special adviser, but Downing Street had withdrawn its support.
A special adviser candidate needs the backing of their minister and Number 10.
