CABIN crew member Helen Kayley is keeping her feet firmly on the ground when she runs the London Marathons for Turn to Starboard, a Cornish sailing charity for armed services personnel, and their families, affected by military operations.

Helen , 35, from Pewsey, who works for AirTanker at RAF Brize Norton said: “In September last year I spent a week at the charity on an adventure training course on board the charity’s tall ship, Spirit of Falmouth. It was an amazing week out at sea and I learnt a lot about myself and made some great memories and friendships. I witnessed the charity at work and I saw first-hand the positivity it brings to people’s lives.”

She added: “I decided to run the London Marathon to help give something back to the charity. It not only changes the lives of affected military personnel but their families and friends too.”

“I’m feeling quite nervous, but I don’t plan to run to a time so there are no expectations on me. I plan to just enjoy the day and hopefully everything will go ok.”

“I have a half marathon and two 10km runs coming up, plus a 12-miler later this month. This will be my first marathon and I hope to raise plenty of money.”
