CHILDREN and staff at River Mead School in Melksham have raised £320 for the Longleat appeal to help the bushfire crisis victims in Australia.

They found out Longleat had sent two koala keepers to Australia to support the Cleveland Wildlife Park rehabilitation and rescue efforts.

Children staged a fundraising week, including a Great Australia Bake Off, an I'm A Teacher Get Me Out Of Here game show and an Australian themed non-uniform day.

Graeme Dick, Longleat's head of animal adventure, agreed to donate prizes at a school assembly.

School PHSE lead Elizabeth Feierabend said: "We're so proud of the talented bakers we have. The amount of cakes received was incredible."
