FOODBANKS are under bigger strain as they try to fulfill the needs of people as supermarkets are spread thin.

The Hub in Bradford on Avon, on Church Street, have noticed a decrease in the amount of donations but are still managing well with supplies. They are still expecting lots of requests.

Co-ordinator Avril Clark said: "St Laurence school have offered to support about 120 families by text so we're expecting lots of requests. Our supplies aren't too bad but it's very difficult to say as we give out to schools. We're expecting more people to phone in.

"With the boater board community lots are on zero-hour contacts so they're struggling with them all in a similar situation. They have asked for 30 food bags which we can provide but if we get requests from all of them it will wipe us out.

"We're intending to be open even if our doors are shut. We're rushing to get everything out before the schools close.

"We hope people still carry on giving so we can continue to operate that would be amazing."

The Hub has a collection point at Sainsbury's in Bradford on Avon or people can donate directly to the bank.
