ENTERTAINMENT and leisure providers in Wiltshire have closed their doors in response to the Government’s advice for people to stay at home because of the coronavirus threat.

They include theatres, the Odeon cinema in Trowbridge and Center Parcs near Warminster, which is closing for a month.

The Athenaeum Theatre in Warminster has closed “until further notice” and so has the Bradford on Avon Tourist Information Centre and the nearby public toilets.

Trowbridge Town Council has closed the Civic Centre and cancelled all events up to April 30.

Historic England also closed its houses and flagship Stonehenge attraction near Salisbury, although gardens and parks will remain open.

From Friday March 20 Longleat is changing its working practice in light of the ongoing coronavirus situation.

The Safari Park drive-through will remain open to visitors as normal while Longleat House, the walkthrough animal areas and other attractions are temporarily closed.

Another event which has been postponed is the annual Vintage Nostalgia Festival which was due to take near Codford from May 29-31. It has now been rescheduled to take place from August 14-16.

Melksham Town Council has closed the Town Hall and Assembly Hall with immediate effect. The spring opening of the Splashpad at the King George V Park is likely to be delayed. The cancellations include the Mayor’s Civic Reception.

The Melksham Our Community Matters conference due to take place on April 8 has been cancelled.

Bradford on Avon Town Council has closed public toilets on Station Approach and Calder Close.
