FUNDRAISERS got a double boost when they learned their £1,500 donation to the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group is also helping to purchase the first revolutionary gamma camera of its kind in the UK.

BCUSG trustee Sue Oliver received the cheque at The Farmhouse, Southwick, where the rock and roll night was organised by Malcolm Clift, Alan Caine and Roger Brunt.

Trustee chairman Michael Taylor announced that the money is going toward funding the £240,000 gamma camera that will be installed at Bath’s RUH.

He said: “We were told after raising a considerable sum that if we could raise more it would purchase a special full body gamma camera, the first in the Britain. The American company producing the machine is giving a huge discount in able to have one in he UK so all our fundraising is now going toward that."

The Valentine dance's theme was helped by dancers from the Melksham rock n' roll club.

Malcolm Clift said: “I have always wanted to stage a rock and roll event so the Valentine dance was a dream come true.

“For me it was emotional to see so many people turn up, many in rock and roll attire, to support us.
