GREAT Western Hospital has restricted visitor hours for patients during the coronavirus pandemic in a bid to stop the disease spreading.

Visitors are restricted to one hour a day unless they are birth partners or parents of under 16s.

Only one visitor per patient is allowed. No visitors are allowed in the Intensive Care Unit.

Children under 12 and anyone self-isolating or with coronavirus symptoms or at risk of severe illness from coronavirus must not visit the hospital

A GWH spokesman said: "At this time, it is vital that we all do everything we can to delay the spread of infection.

"We understand that this can be difficult, but want to ensure we are protecting our staff, patients and their families as best as we can.

"If you have a community appointment, please let us know in advance.

"Each expectant mother attending for ultrasound scans may be accompanied by only one person.

"If you are visiting a patient, please practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands more often for 20 seconds, or use hand sanitiser.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and we want to say thank you to our local community for supporting us at this time."
