SHOPPERS have been spotted by officers meeting friends and buying paint.

Wiltshire Police have hit out at people in Malmesbury ignoring government guidelines on social distancing.

Despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordering everyone to stay at home, officers have dealt with a number of people engaging in non-essential trips.

Here's what you told us...

Sky-Anne Haley: "Stay inside people! Three weeks! It may seem like a while but its not! Do your part and follow the government orders!"

Bob Shaw: "The longer there is non-compliance the longer this will go on. The more the virus is spread the worse it will be."

Terry Sargent: "This is why more strict restrictions will be put in place. It happened in Italy, other EU countries and here in Spain. So sad because liberty and freedom will be lost (temporarily one would hope)."

Jade Pinnell: "It is going against the rules completely, but surely if these people have bought paint, they won't need to go out again to buy more paint and they can actually stay at home and do what they need to do?"

Maria Phillips Pauline: "Essentials only. Bread, milk etc.

"The whole planet is obsessed with shopping, there are people dying a horrid death.

"Our hospital has now cancelled any non urgent appointments, and the doctors and nurses are now dealing with the virus. Everytime you go out you can get it, carry it or pass it on. I am only going out for a walk, or if I need any food, and that’s only if I need it. My sister is working at the hospital and is facing all of this, it’s frightening but why do people view this as a holiday."

Charlotte Sawyer: "If you’re already in Asda for example buying your essentials, I don’t see the problem in chucking in a tin of paint from their decorating isle as you’re going about your shopping. Don’t just make a trip out for paint and then the food shop the next day. Do it in one go."

Sue Hall: "It's very confusing but you are supposed to go out only for essentials like food and limit that and a hour walk."

Sam Ruck: "This is where the problem is, people think oh I just need to get paint or new garden furnitures and go out and mix with a load of other people. And those people go home to their families some of whom may be elderly or have low immune systems who then pick up the virus."

Marjorie Hodgkins: "My niece is a nurse in Wales.. She is already exhausted . I just don’t get the mentality of people who are almost carrying on like normal. All we are being asked to do is stay home and only go out for necessities . We will save lives if we do."

Gosia Gosia: "Give a large penalty to all factories, companies and shops that do not have a key workers license."

Jennie Wolfie: "I've seen too many trades people today - although they may not be at risk themselves, there are many who are very high risk and extremely vulnerable. Three weeks isn't exactly long."

Dionne Louise Bunker: "Gatherings of teens in Covingham, thinking it’s laughable to be reminded we are meant to be in our homes. Spitting and throwing rubbish about. This needs to be stopped."

Kylie Amanda: "I was at my pharmacy in Wroughton as there was no one to go for me, and a group of four girls were all walking along laughing and joking saying they went out yesterday and are out today. I’m literally out in necessity."

Dan Walters: "I’d love to stay at home for 3 weeks but I’ve gotta stay at work! Apparently we’re on the key workers list!"

Zoe Lewis: "Hardware stores should only be selling stuff for an emergency, plumbing, electrical etc, not paint garden furniture or anything else now that isn’t a necessity. If these stores were to close to public and only sell essentials then we wouldn’t have this problem!"
