DRUGS packaged up for more than 100 deals and £5,000 in cash were seized by cops during a routine lockdown patrol.

The find came after police from the Central South Swindon neighbourhood team spotted a 19-year-old on his own in a Broadgreen alleyway at 1pm yesterday.

He was approached with the government’s coronavirus guidelines in mind but his behaviour led to a drugs search.

Officers found a quantity of herbal cannabis but landed an even bigger haul when they visited the suspect’s property.

There, they found around £5,000 in cash, scales and other paraphernalia relating to cannabis supply.

The teen was taken to Gablecross police station for questioning before being released under investigation last night.

PC Paul Bezzant said: “This was an unexpected result from a routine engagement with a member of public due to the ongoing government guidelines and lock down as a result of CV19.

"We will continue to patrol our streets, engaging with members of public, as well as targeting this unwanted activity in our communities.”
