A teenager has been killed in an early hours crash on the M4.

Police were called at around 1.30am after a BMW hit the central reservation and overturned. It was travelling westbound between junctions 14 and 15.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, died at the scene. His female passenger, 19, was taken to Great Western Hospital with minor injuries.

The M4 has been shut since 2am and remains closed westbound.

The eastbound carriageway was reopened shortly after 9am.
