Devizes' coronavirus support group has warned people that it can no longer collect prescriptions from Boots.

Devizes Covid 19 has come to an agreement with Rowlands and Morrisons but Boots made a national decision to stop using volunteer groups.

Town clerk Simon Fisher said: “If you need a prescription from Boots, you will need to contact the pharmacy directly on 01380 722022 or arrange for a collection via www.boots.com/online/pharmacy. If you are still waiting for a prescription, or if you have told us about medicines you need in the future, then please contact Boots Devizes directly.”

Wiltshire councillor Laura Mayes, who is cabinet member for public health, and part of the Devizes Covid-19 committee said: "It is disappointing that Boots has made this decision.

"The agreement with the other pharmacies in Devizes is working well as they are preparing batches of prescriptions for us so just one volunteer can collect them.

"I have taken a couple of phone calls on our helpline myself from people who are having difficulty getting through on the phone."

It is still possible for friends or family to collect prescriptions on other people's behalf but it is not doing batches for voluntary groups.

Boots is offering a prescription home delivery service.
