The 2020 Chippenham Half Marathon, which was due to take place on September 6, has now been cancelled as organisers feel there will not be enough time after lockdown lifts for it to be planned properly and safely.

In a statement they said: "With so much still unknown about the decision on large sporting events, coupled with the fact that our race is a charity run and sponsored event, we do not believe we can safely and efficiently run the event given the short time frames.

"We are already facing many clashes as the autumn calendar has now become saturated and are faced with supply chain issues for our race finishers medals and shirts.

"Chippenham Half Marathon will be returning in 2021 bigger, better and stronger. Our rainbow medal design will now hold an even deeper meaning to us all."
