AWARD-WINNING Corsham artist Emelie Hryhoruk has added to her collection of pop art super heroes - with a portrait of the Queen.

She says the work was inspired after watching the Queen's speech in April when she referred to self-isolation.

"I was initially going to paint a care professional wearing a mask," said Emelie.

"But once I saw the Queen give her speech I was taken by surprise by how connected I felt to her in that moment.

"She was speaking to the nation once again, in order to help and protect us, albeit in a different way to the selfless care professionals, but with the same hopeful outcome."

"My work continues to ignite conversations around mental health and wellbeing, and with our current lockdown here in the UK, I felt compelled to create something that would open up a dialogue about loneliness, isolation, vulnerability and our unknown reality.

"By using colour and our long-reigning Monarch, the painting exudes strength and hope and reminds us that this, too, shall pass."

Emelie says she has had an amazing response to the painting and hopes people will contact her to discuss it.

She will also be producing prints and T shirts and will be donating proceeds to NHS charities.

Last year, she raised £15,000 through her artwork for Dorothy House, St Lukes Hospice, MIND, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Bobby Van Trust.
