Who can resist the dark-eyed appeal of former street dog Ernie?

Rescued from a shelter in Spain a few weeks ago her is enjoying plenty of good food and attention after his ordeal

And he is currently making the most of the warm weather with lots of snoozing.

His foster carer Lauren Couch said: “He’s so loveable, he loves to be around people and at the moment he’s so lazy because of the heat.

“He’s very chilled but can be quite naughty and he does love his food.

“You have to put him in another room whenever you’re preparing any food.

“Unfortunately he’s got weak back legs so we haven’t been able to take him on any walks yet.

"But hopefully his legs will grow back in strength."

It's thought the weakness was caused by spending a long time confined in a pound.

Despite not seeing him interact with other dogs, Lauren is confident that Ernie will behave well with others.

She added: “Despite him being a big dog, and looking like a wolf, he hasn’t shown any aggression at all.

“He must be about six years old and he’s such a sweetheart.”

For Ernie’s forever home, Lauren believes he would be better off with a family who are at home often due to his love of being with people and interacting with them.

Anyone interested in giving Ernie a home should visit sndogs.uk/adopt-a-dog and fill out the application form.

A home check will then be carried out before a decision is made. After the family has been accepted the foster carer will make contact and arrange a time to meet and get to know him.

SNDogs is a foster organisation where homeless and rescued dogs are looked after in a network of volunteer homes.
