POLICE: Wiltshire Police’s first application for a stalking protection order has been withdrawn.

New legislation came into force at the start of the year allowing police forces to apply to the magistrates for the orders, which prohibit those suspected of stalking others from contacting their alleged victims.

On January 31, Wiltshire Police was granted an interim stalking protection order against Nicholas O’Dwyer, of Chisbury. The 50-year-old opposed the order being made, so the magistrates made an interim order and adjourned the case for a full hearing this week.

The police have now withdrawn the application for the order.
