Swindon’s designer outlet is expected to reopen on June 15.

The confirmation by McArthurGlen, which runs the Rodbourne shopping outlet, follows the announcement by the Prime Minister on Monday that “non-essential” shops would be free to open from mid-June.

The outlet has been shut during the coronavirus lockdown.

In a statement on Tuesday afternoon a spokesman for McArthurGlen said: “Following the UK Government’s latest update on Monday 25th May, we are planning to re-open our six centres on Monday 15th June.

“The safety and welfare of our customers, brand partners and employees remain paramount and our re-opening is subject to any further government regulations and guidelines.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates accordingly.”

The outlet is home to a number of top brands, including Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren.

On Monday, Boris Johnson told the Downing Street press briefing that outdoor markets and car showrooms will open from June 1, provided they can do so safely.

From June 15, "all other non-essential retail" including department stores will be allowed to reopen, contingent on progress in the fight against coronavirus and if the businesses are "covid secure".
