AN inquest into the death of a young engineer from Melksham will resume in Salisbury in June.

The inquest on Dalian Ashley Ward will be held by Wiltshire's senior coroner David Ridley at 10am on June 24.

Mr Ward, 25, died on January 10 following a crash on the B3097 Hawkeridge Road near Westbury.

Police said a Volkswagen Golf had crossed the carriageway and collided with a lorry whilst negotiating a right-hand bend. The VW Golf driver died at the scene.

The driver of the lorry – a man in his 50s from Chippenham - suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Part of the Hawkeridge Road was closed between the roundabout for the West Wilts Trading Estate to the roundabout for Phillips Way while the crash was investigated.

Mr Ward was a former pupil at George Ward School in Melksham.

He had only started a new job last September working as a CNC machinist for a Westbury engineering company.

Mr Ward is believed to have been travelling home from work when the accident occurred.
