A Wiltshire man denies brandishing an imitation handgun in Trowbridge.

Appearing before Swindon Crown Court in person, Anthony Jones, 19, of Slowgrove Close, Trowbridge, pleaded not guilty to possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

It is alleged he used an imitation Glock pistol to threaten a woman in Trowbridge on February 12 of this year.

Jones appeared before Judge Jason Taylor QC in person. Prosecutor Tessa Hingston and his defence advocate, Matthew Harbinson, appeared over the Skype video link.

With the coronavirus lockdown making it unclear when trials will resume at Swindon Crown Court, Judge Taylor listed the case for a short hearing in a fortnight’s time when it is hoped a trial date can be fixed.

Bailing him, the judge told Jones to keep in touch with his solicitors: “Make sure you do exactly what you’ve done before. Your solicitor rings you, you pick up the phone.”
