The plan to manage and contain Covid-19 is a new significant outbreak occurs again in Swindon will be discussed today.
The local health and wellbeing board, which is chaired by Swindon Borough Council leader David Renard, includes senior councillors and officers also has senior members of the health, police and fire services and patients’ groups.
At its first meeting since a global pandemic was declared the board will discuss the newly drawn-up outbreak plan.
The plan says: “The aim is to prevent community spread of Covid-19 and also to quickly identify and manage outbreaks early whilst maintaining community engagement.
“Our plan will ensure testing takes place quickly and tracing contacts of those who have tested positive occurs at pace, advising them to self-isolate.
“We will ensure we act on local knowledge and real time data flow between local and national systems as appropriate.”
Priorities for the plan include protecting those in care homes and schools and also communities which are known to be more vulnerable to the virus.
