VILLAGERS queued yesterday to see whether they have had coronavirus thanks to a new mobile testing lab.

The bus, created by Wantage company NTL Biologica, rolled into Harwell where approximately 60 residents took an antibody test. Taking 15 minutes to return a result and costing £45, the test used on board specialist machines developed in South Korea and was carried out by a team of trained technicians.

The government's advice on antibody states there is 'no strong evidence' yet to suggest those who have had the virus develop long-lasting immunity which would prevent them from getting the virus again.

It adds: "Therefore, the value of antibody tests is currently limited."

The new community testing bus is able to travel around Oxfordshire providing antibody testing to any individuals or businesses who are interested.

Due to high demand the company will also be conducting another testing day in Harwell on Friday.

NTL Biologica director, Ian Graney said: “We are pleased to be able to offer antibody tests directly to the community. It is important that meet people’s concerns and help reduce risk at the local level.”
