A 74-year-old former nurse who set up a charity to help poor people in Nepal has spent lockdown waling up and down a village hill 145 times in a virtual Everest challenge.

Sue Hamblin, who lives in West Lavington, near Devizes spent most of June walking up and down Strawberry Hill to raise money for the Nestling Trust, which she founded in 2013.

Over the past seven years it has opened a home for destitute girls and set up five health clinics in remote mountainous areas.

The trust has responded to the coronavirus outbreak in Nepal by providing medical supplies but more help is urgently needed. Sue has set up a justgiving page and is urging others to do a similar hike near their homes. So far £2,629 has been raised.

Sue said: “Thank you to everyone for helping those who have so much less than we do.”
