A man accused of pointing an air rifle out of his bedroom window at his next door neighbours has been remanded in custody.

Ryan New, 21, was before Swindon Magistrates’ Court last month on a charge of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, allegedly committed at his mother’s home on Beech Avenue on June 22.

He was bailed by the district judge to live at his dad’s home and banned from parts of Pinehurst, where he has lived for much of his life.

New was back before the court on Saturday morning, when magistrates found he had breached his bail.

He admitted not living at his father’s home on Acacia Grove, saying his dad had not allowed him to stay and as a result he had been living with his cousin on Rodbourne Road.

But the young man denied returning to his mother’s home in breach of his bail. A neighbour claimed she had heard his “distinctive” voice.

Magistrates found the allegation proved and remanded New in custody to appear before Swindon Crown Court on July 24 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

New was represented by Luke Jameson. Ben Worthington appeared for the Crown.
