Police swooped on a Rodbourne street last night after reports of a knifeman.
A spokeswoman for Wiltshire Police said a member of the public rang 999 at 9.20pm on Tuesday after they saw a man acting suspiciously in an alleyway off Dean Street.
"The man was reported to be carrying an object believed to be a knife or a saw," she said.
Police officers went to the street and searched the area but could find no trace of the man.
