THESE pictures show the shocking aftermath of a crash involving a suspected drink-driver.
Miraculously, the driver suffered only minor cuts and abrasions.
Police took the unusual step of releasing the pictures – taken by officers – in a bid to show the stark reality of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.
Shortly after 8pm on Saturday, Wiltshire Police received reports of a single vehicle collision near Marston Meysey.
A spokesman for Royal Wootton Bassett & Cricklade Police said: "Upon arrival the Mercedes X350 pick-up was found to be on its side after colliding with three trees.
"The 59-year-old driver and thankfully only occupant was found to have extracted himself from the pick-up and had minor cuts and abrasions.
"The driver was arrested at the scene after providing a positive sample of breath nearly three times the legal limit.
"He was subsequently taken to hospital as a precaution due to the seriousness of the impact where he failed to provide a sample of blood for analysis.
"As you can see from the photos in the daylight how lucky we were not to be dealing with a fatality!"
