A Haydon Wick man will be sentenced next month for affray.
Billy-Sam Shervell, 20, had been due to stand trial at Swindon Crown Court this week on an allegation he inflicted grievous bodily harm on a woman on September 30, 2018.
But that trial cracked when Shervell, of Honeysuckle Close, Haydon Wick, admitted a charge of affray. That plea was deemed acceptable to the Crown, with no evidence offered to the GBH allegation and Recorder Paul Garlick QC formally recorded a not guilty verdict to the charge.
Bailing the man for the sentencing hearing at the crown court on October 20, Mr Garlick said: “I’m adjourning this case for a pre-sentence report. I’m allowing you bail but I must point out to you there are no promises; the sentencing judge in this case might take the view this is a case where he has no option but impose a custodial sentence on you.”
