A woman was sexually assaulted near the Dorcan Way Esso garage, police said.

Detectives have released a CCTV image of the man they suspect carried out the attack on Thursday, September 10.

Officers said they also wanted to speak to a female nurse who stopped to speak to the 19-year-old victim before she was assaulted in order to ask if she needed any help.

The woman was said to be walking in the Greenbridge and Dorcan Way area at around 10.30pm on September 10.

While she was still walking alone a car pulled up. A woman inside the vehicle introduced herself as a nurse and asked if the lone woman needed any help. She said she was fine and didn't need any help.

Shortly afterwards a man approached and walked with the woman before sexually assaulting her near the Esso garage on Dorcan Way.

Det Insp Paul Hacker of Swindon CID said: "We would like to hear from anyone who was in this area of town during the late evening of Thursday 10 September and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious.

"Perhaps you may have seen a woman walking alone or accompanied by a male around this time?

"We're also keen to hear from the nurse who stopped just before the assault to check that the young woman was alright - if that was you, please contact us.

"The area is surrounded by major roads, if you were driving around that part of Swindon perhaps you have dash cam footage which might also help us."

The detectives' suspect is described as a white man with dark hair. He was wearing jeans, a dark jumper and black and white trainers.
