Bath Archers have returned after almost half a year of closure because of the coronavirus lockdown.

It has now re-started shooting at their field in Batheaston.

But this isn't without some safety measure in place because of the Covid crisis.

The government has advised sports clubs to socially distance, minimise contact, regularly cleaning equipment, organiser should collect details of everyone to help track and trace, and before starting check if anyone has coronavirus symptoms.

A spokesman for the Bath Archers said: "The club is closely following Archery GB guidelines, in order to ensure maximum safety for members and visiting archers who hold Archery GB membership.

"The club would indeed extend a warm welcome to visiting archers who would like to try them out with a view to applying for membership, or get in a bit of shooting practice if their own club has suspended shooting because of the pandemic.

"The Bath Archers field offers safe access to archers who wish to shoot. The spacious field with its large parking area, means social-distancing is easy."

It is currently allowing a maximum of 10 targets, with no more than 2 people from different households sharing a target, provided they maintain a two-metre distance.

Members and visitors are asked not to come to the club if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, or if any family-members are displaying symptoms.

And people who have had the virus should not go to the club until two weeks after full recovery from the illness.

It has also opened its field to Archery GB members not in Bath Archers club, but who may not be able to shoot at their own clubs at the moment.

Archery GB affiliated non-members who want to shoot at Batheaston should contact the club secretary at theSecretary@batharchers.org.

And anyone interested in taking up archery can keep an eye on its website www.batharchers.org for updates on the 2021 taster sessions and beginners’ courses.

They are open seven days a week, opening hours can be found on the website.
