POLICE this morning appealed for witnesses to a collision on the M4 yesterday after the driver involved later died at home after suffering a heart attack.
At around 11.15am, a single vehicle collision involving a black Dacia Duster took place on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 near to Leigh Delamere services.
For reasons currently unknown, the vehicle hit the central reservation and crossed into lane 3 of the westbound carriageway, landing on its roof.
The driver, a man in his 70s from the Gloucester area, sustained minor injuries as a result and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.
A Police spokeswoman said: "He returned home later that day but suffered a cardiac arrest at home and sadly died. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."
Enquiries are ongoing in relation to the collision.
Officers would like to hear from anyone with information about the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage.
Please call 101 and quote log number 90 of September 30.
