A 22-YEAR-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a "physical altercation" outside a shop in Old Sarum.

Just after 8.30am yesterday morning (October 19), a man and a woman were seen to be having a verbal argument which turned into a physical altercation outside the Co-op in Portway. 

The man is described as white, between 20 and 25 years old, wearing a dark t-shirt and jeans. He also had a stretching earring in his ear.

The woman is described as mixed-race, between 20 and 25 years old, and was wearing dark clothing.

Officers did attend the incident and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

He was taken to custody at Gablecross Police Station and has since been released under investigation while our enquiries continue.

Police are now appealing for independent witnesses to the disorder.
