St John's Marlborough will be closed today (Wednesday 21) due to one isolated positive coronavirus case.

A tweet posted by the school confirmed that parents would be contacted with further information today.

The tweet reads: "Due to an isolated positive Covid case just confirmed by NHS Test & Trace, St John’s will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday 21st October.

"Parents will be contacted by email and text message this evening and relevant students will be contacted with further information on Wednesday."

Today, a spokeswoman said: "Further to our announcement last night that St John’s would be closed to students on Wednesday October 21, we can now confirm that St John’s Marlborough has had one staff member test positive for COVID-19, receiving the results yesterday.

"Principal Mr Ian Tucker decided to close the school while completing the risk assessment as a precautionary measure.

"St John’s and Wiltshire's Public Health team have reviewed all the school’s procedures and are confident that no close contacts have been identified at the school, so no additional staff or students are required to self-isolate.

"As it is the end of term St John’s will not be re-opening today but we are allowing students back to collect coursework over the course of today, in readiness for the half term period."
