THE multi-million pound revamp of West Swindon’s Asda is almost complete.

New signage and shop space has been revealed at the store but the finishing touches are still being put in place before the project is completed at the end of the month.

It was announced in August that the Shaw Ridge store was receiving a £7.5 million refurbishment.

The investment is the biggest since the supermarket opened its doors, taking over the space filled in the 1980s by French hypermarket Carrefour.

An Asda spokesperson said: "We’re bringing lots of new offers to Asda Swindon West this year, with every part of the store receiving investment.

“Everyone is working hard behind the scenes to ensure there’s minimal disruption for our customers and the community.”

A complete front-of-house transformation has seen new concessions such as pan-Asian street food kiosk Panku launched, as well as the George clothing section moving to a separate unit outside the main store.

The store now has an automated parcel collection and returns unit outside, as well as new ATMs close to the entrance.

Improved toilet facilities have be moved to the ground floor from the old second floor location to allow for better disabled access.

Most aspects of the store have been refurbished, including the tills, health and beauty and beer, wine and spirits sections.

The store has remained open during the work.
